An employee of the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works was shot on North Terrace Avenue, this morning. On Friday July 7, 2023, at around 8:25 AM, Mount Vernon Police were dispatched to the area of 50 North Terrace Avenue for a report of a person that had been shot. When officers arrived on scene they located the victim, 25-year-old, Daquan Moore, suffering from gunshot wounds to both of his legs. Moore was transported to Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery. Mount Vernon Police learned that Moore, along with other employees of the Department of Public Works, were in the area of 132 North Terrace Avenue, collecting garbage when an unknown person began shooting at them, ultimately striking Moore. The shooter then fled the area on foot. Mount Vernon Police ask that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510, all calls will be kept confidential.
