[ARCHIVED] Memorial Field Ribbon Cutting

Memorial Field has been the heart and soul of the City of Mount Vernon for a very long time.  It is the cultural, sports and health crossroads of our community. It is where so many of us made memories and where dreams will be realized. It is one of the landmarks that connect us all because it helps to knit, tie, and bind us together through its history and now through its future.  Memorial field is the Jewel of Mount Vernon. Through loving care, cooperation and partnership we will make sure she shines bright. This partnership of trust with Westchester County symbolizes progress at its best and we are thankful for County Executive George Latimer and the entire executive team for your diligence and tenacity to see us to the completion of this project and for hosting today's ribbon cutting.

We would like to thank our state delegation led by Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow for providing over $5 million in financial support. We would also like to thank our County Board of Legislators, former elected officials, community partners, and everyone who has contributed to this process and for understanding just how much the new Memorial Field will mean to the economic development, public health, pride, morale and community cohesion of the City of Mount Vernon.

Thank you to the MIGHTY MOUNT VERNON TEAM who poured thousands of collective hours into realizing this project Y'all are AMAZING. Thank you to our community for entrusting that COLLECTIVELY we could get it done.
