
The City of Mount Vernon, NY is seeking proposals from non-profit providers to deliver financial counseling services at the Mount Vernon Financial Empowerment Center (FEC). The FEC will provide professional, one-on-one financial counseling as a free public service to residents.
With support from the national nonprofit Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Fund, the City of Mount Vernon will launch a Financial Empowerment Center as a key public service to support vulnerable residents. Through the FEC model, professionally trained FEC counselors will help individuals and families with low and moderate incomes manage their finances, pay down debt, increase savings, establish and build credit, and access safe and affordable mainstream banking products. Counseling services will be delivered by a community nonprofit service provider, and overseen and managed by the City of Mount Vernon; selected nonprofit service provider will be required to provide financial counseling services following the CFE Fund’s national FEC counseling model.
